And the Ballarat region will be a hive of activity this Australia Day long weekend with three days of family fun, tempting food and funky tunes.
Australia Day Fireworks at Lake Wendouree (January 26)
Relax on the shores of Lake Wendouree as the city’s skyline explodes with colour this Saturday, January 26.
This year’s fireworks display has been created by local pyrotechnic Matthew Batty, who has designed his aerial showcase to create multiple layers of height, colour, and effects for a spectacularly colourful and rhythmic show, coordinated between the lake's pontoon and isthmus positions.
The pyrotechnics display will kick off at 9.30pm and last approximately 15 minutes.
A delicious selection of local food vendors will be located by the Adventure Playground and the start of the rowing course.
Ballarat Food Truck Carnival (January 25-28)
The Ballarat Food Truck Carnival is making its return to the Ballarat Showgrounds this January 25 to 28.
Get ready for a rotation of 30 of Victoria's best food trucks, a fully licensed bar, carnival rides, live music
plus much more.
Creswick Woollen Mills (January 26 - February 10)
Australia Day at the Creswick Woollen Mills will feature a local produce market, children’s activities, an Aussie-themed BBQ, delicious cafe food, raffles and prizes, along with the renowned animal experience with Farmer Cameron.
Across the fortnight, the festivities will continue with Australia Day-themed treats at the cafe and history tours showcasing the journey of fibre.
The Red Hot Summer Tour (January 27)
Rock legends Jimmy Barnes and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will take over Lake Wendouree's North Gardens on Sunday, January 27, for The Red Hot Summer Tour.
The concert will also feature The Living End as well as Diesel, Richard Clapton and Chocolate Starfish.
Rainbow Serpent Festival (January 25-28)
Lexton's annual Rainbow Serpent Festival is an internationally-recognised, multifaceted weekend of dance, colour, expression and celebration.
More than 15,000 people will gather over the Australia Day long weekend to celebrate electronic music, art, performance, spiritual education, relaxation and healing.
Beaufort Australia Day Market (January 26)
Just a hop, skip and a jump from Lexton is Beaufort, which will host an Australia Day Market at the old primary school on January 26 between 9am and 4pm. Here you will find a wonderful selection of food trucks, kids entertainment, music, local arts and crafts, and other fun activities.
Across the road at the Beaufort Pool, the Beaufort Friends of the Pool will celebrate summer with its annual pool party. In the main street, retailers will decorate their stores with a rainbow of colours and a selection of cafes and hotels will offer Vegemite-themed recipes in tribute to the spread's inventor, Cyril Callister, who grew up just outside of Beaufort in Chute.
