FOR TWO generations, the paradise that is Cave Hill Creek has belonged in the Chandler family.
“It was established by my parents Ian and Julie in 1988,” co-owner Tim Chandler says.
“When we moved here it was just a sheep paddock, no lake or buildings and just 25 mature trees. Now it is a stunning environment with a picturesque lake and accommodation for 140.”
Nestled among the bush just outside of Beaufort, and surrounded by the majestic mountain views of Mt Cole State Forest, Cave Hill Creek is native Australia at its finest.
Just recently, the site took out the gold title for standard accommodation at the 2016 Victorian Tourism Awards.
Tim says the campsite has much to offer visitors, especially those seeking a romantic getaway.
“We are innovative – establishing one of the first glamping (glamorous camping) facilities in Victoria. It features six deluxe eco tents, including two with en-suite bathrooms and makes a fabulous bridal suite,” he says.
“Our environment is beautiful, stunning, spectacular, and only 45 minutes from Ballarat.”
In addition to giving lovebirds a great escape, Cave Hill Creek is known for its extravagant summer camps for younger generations.
“Our Summer Camp is a four night and five day extravaganza of fun for eight to 14 year olds,” Tim says.
“Participants have the opportunity to try a range of exciting and challenging activities including abseiling, canoeing, mountain biking, bushwalking, crate stack, high ropes, archery and camp out under the stars.
“Kids on Summer Camp make friends and have fun. But camp is also a great opportunity to build skills like independence, resilience and problem solving.”
With walking tracks, obstacle courses, wedding and conferencing facilities, native wildlife, and picturesque views, there’s no doubt Cave Hill Creek has something for everyone.
“We love sharing our piece of paradise with others,” Tim says.
