Giving Melbourne a sweet taste of Ballarat

DELVE into the secret life of bees with "accidental" beekeepers Amanda Collins and Scott Denno at Melbourne's Made of Ballarat Pop-Up Shop on April 5.

In 2013, Scott and Amanda were unexpectedly gifted a hive from a friend. This lonely hive sat in their back paddock with the sheep while they frantically researched how to care for the colony.

Since then, they have undertaken formal training in beekeeping and biosecurity and established Backyard Beekeeping Ballarat in 2015. They are also qualified Emergency Beehive Surveillance Apiarists with the Victorian State Quarantine Response Team.

Located at Shop 4, 218-242 Little Collins St, Melbourne, the store transcends the everyday shopfront, stimulating the senses and giving people a taste of what they can expect when they visit Ballarat.
