Winter Wonderlights

Winter Wonderlights at Sovereign Hill
June 29 – July 21
Sovereign Hill, Bradshaw St, Ballarat
Details: The multi-award winning Winter Wonderlights returns to Sovereign Hill in 2019 brighter than ever before, with an expanded footprint and more light projections. Be swept up in the excitement of a special European-style Christmas as the entire township comes alive in Australia’s largest ever light projection
spectacle staged at one site. To avoid disappointment, visitors are encouraged to pre-book online.

Details: What winter wonderland is complete without an ice-skating rink? This festival favourite in the heart of Ballarat's CBD is guaranteed fun for the whole family, with all skill levels catered for. Each session lasts for one hour, with bookings recommended. 

Activated Artwalk

Ballarat Activated Art Trail
June 29 – July 21
Throughout the Ballarat CBD
Details: The inaugural Ballarat Activated Art Trail will unravel the hidden stories of the city’s laneways, buildings and streets and bring some special artworks to life courtesy of your smartphone. The region's creatives will reinterpret the city through animation, design and sound, all at the touch of a button.

Details: This Ballarat Winter Festival, The Design Exchange is excited to be warming up for its inaugural two-day inspiring design event. Think independent artists and creators, mulled wines, boutique beers, gin bars, wood fire pizzas, a comfy lounge and a cosy atmosphere in one of the city’s beautiful heritage buildings.

Knights of Fire (Kryal Castle)

Details: The spectacular Knights of Fire program is back at Kryal Castle just in time for the winter school holidays. A daily highlight is the spectacular Joust of The Flame as Sir Hector meets Sir Reynard in a fiery clash of flaming lances and swords on the castle’s main arena. And the breathtaking fire jump as part of the Skill At Arms display will leave you in awe.

Ballarat Wildlife Park

Details: Ballarat has joined the fight to save the Sumatran tiger from extinction. The Ballarat Wildlife Park is now home to Sumatran tigers Maneki and Satu. It’s estimated less than 500 of the species remain in the wild due to the clearing of natural habitat and poaching. Part of a global species management plan, the
duo are ambassadors for helping their cousins survive in the wild through education programs and conservation initiatives.
