A NEW exhibition at Federation University's Post Office Gallery will celebrate the achievements of Ballarat's visual arts alumni from the 1980s.

RELOAD: Back to the 80s will showcase the work of 35 artists who completed their studies at the university between 1980 and 1989, some of whom have since gained national and international recognition.

From its beginnings as the School of Mines Ballarat (SMB) and the establishment of the Ballarat Technical Art School in 1907, the university’s Arts Academy endures despite many organisational, social and political changes. It is recognised as the oldest continuous art school in Australia.

The exhibition will not only celebrate alumni success but also recognise the many former teachers who were instrumental in shaping and inspiring active creative minds.

An opening party will be held at the Sturt Street gallery on Friday, December 14, at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. The exhibition will be on show until February 2, 2019.
