Ballarat's best toasties

Subscribe to Email Updates

WINTER calls for some mouthwatering, warming toasties with all the melted cheese you could ever dream of.

Here are some of the best places in Ballarat to nab yourself one of these toasted delights.

1. FIKA Coffee Brewers

Not only are these guys known for their stellar (Sensory Lab) coffee, but they serve up a mean toastie. Their menu may change depending on the season, but one thing is for certain - you're in for a cheesy treat!

2. Little Square's Garage

Little Square has all the toasties you could think of, and more, with more than 20 to choose from! There's classic ham, cheese and tomato; Greek feta, peppers, olives and rocket; corned beef, sweet gherkins, mustard and swiss cheese; or BBQ meat lovers with all the meat! There's even options for the little tikes of the family so everyone can partake of the toasted goodness.

3. Hydrant Food Hall

One of the Hydrant's most popular choices (and believe me, there are many) is their classic bacon and egg toastie. This warming breakfast sanga boasts a lightly-fried free-range egg, fried bacon, melted cheese and housemade tomato chutney. Served up in between two thick slices of delicious Irrewarrah sourdough, it will give you the perfect kick-start to your day. (As will the Seven Seeds cup of joe!)

4. Little Bird

Little Bird is known Ballarat-wide for its staple chilli beef jaffle. Served with indulgent beef, jalapenos and sour cream, it's a real winter delight!

5. The Unicorn

Ham, cheese and tomato; pumpkin, pesto and feta; bacon, egg and cheese - The Unicorn's toasties are indulgent and heartwarming. The best part is, they're served with chunky chips!

6. The Lost Ones Basement Bar

Haloumi, honey and harissa; roasted vegetables; Salt Kitchen pulled pork and gooey cheese - The Lost Ones' toasties will be amongst the tastiest you've ever experienced. Served in the ambient space that is the Basement Bar, this toastie experience will have you writing home!
