Ballarat's best freak shakes

Subscribe to Email Updates

Want to know where to find the best freak shakes in town? Hello Ballarat guest blogger Ballarat Eats has the low down.

Milkshakes are on trend at the moment and they can now be found in jars with doughnuts, fairy floss and chocolate brownies spilling over the edge. We dreamed of the day when we wouldn’t have to travel out of Ballarat to find these creations and our dreams have now come true.

Knife Fork Spoon Kitchen started the shake trend in town. Situated in the CBD (near the Art Gallery of Ballarat) the café oozes cuteness and class.

The hardest part about visiting this café is choosing what shake to order. With creations including Jaffa, Oreo, Blue Bubble-gum, Caramelised Banana Croissant pudding, Choc Brownie and Fairy Floss you know this menu is going to take some perusing.

Each week there are new shakes on the menu and each week the creations keep getting better! For the sweet tooths out there this café is an absolute must when in town.

The Unicorn is another Ballarat café that is joining the fancy shake craze. Located in one of Ballarat’s oldest buildings this quirky café will impress you with a menu of deliciousness.

Their fancy shakes are a recent addition and we are impressed. Nothing is out of bounds when it comes to their shakes including elements of jam doughnuts, Tim tams, sour straps and rainbow popcorn.

We hope the enthusiasm for fancy shakes continues forever and that more of our fav Ballarat cafes start to jump on the band wagon. We might even be able to start a Fancy Shake tour in town? #wecandreamcantwe
