THE Ballarat Begonia Festival is only a couple of weeks away, and here's how we think you should spend the weekend.

1. The Robert Clark Conservatory

Here's where all the festival glory lives. As you enter the conservatory, you'll be immersed in the beauty and colour of the festival centrepiece - the Begonia Display. Specially curated by the City of Ballarat, the display features a mass of more than 700 Begonias from the Botanical Garden's tuberous and non-tuberous collections.

2. Garden talks and demonstrations with Jason Hodges

Join Australia's garden royalty and television favourite Jason Hodges as he returns to the festival for a series of garden talks and DIY demonstrations. Learn about plants, soil and garden design, how to create a pet-friendly garden and discover how to revitalise your backyard.

3.The Alkazar

Combining circus and comedy, The Alkazar tent showcases an array of performances for all ages. From Saturday through to Monday, you can enjoy the romantic comedy of Eloise Green, the magic of Liam Power, the high-skilled chair balancing of Corie Hurry and the circus acts of The Great Dave. Hours of entertainment guaranteed!

4. Live entertainment

Whether it's blues, classical, flamenco or rock, the musicians at this year's festival will have your music tastes covered. The likes of Avatar Duo, Sugar Blue Duo, Alexjandro and street performer Chris Morant will take to the festival's stages to provide hours of live music.

5. Children's activities

There's plenty to see and do for the little tikes in the family, with the giant sandpit, storytime, pot planting, garden games, cooking classes, and the woodworking workshops.

6. The Begonia Parade

The renowned Begonia Parade will take place on Monday, with local businesses, schools and community groups uniting to celebrate the city's diversity and community spirit. Beginning at 11am, the showcase will be held along Wendouree Parade.

And to keep you fuelled throughout the three days, the festival will feature plenty of food and drink options ranging from international eats, sweet treats, specialty crafted coffee brews and loads more!
